THERE ARE just some things Twin Moms can’t live without…

Finding out I was going to be a mom of twins was already in itself overwhelming, exciting YES, but also very overwhelming. Having to figure out what baby items I was actually going to NEED, was a challenge. There are so many baby items out there that it can be overwhelming to know what you actually need as a new mom. I did a bunch of research into what I thought were the most consistently used items I saw other moms promoting, and then went from there. I have narrowed down some of my favorite items that I absolutely love for both twins and single babies as well! I wanted to be super prepared to make my life as easy as possible with two babies at once. I will say, once I found out I was having a second set of twins, I knew exactly what I needed, and what I didn’t!

As a result, I’ve compiled a list of 10 of my favorite items that I absolutely needed and used regularly as a twin mom!

Something I do realize is that every mom is so different, and, in my research, every mom has a list of items that she says are “must haves”, but it really comes down to experience. Some things moms say are an absolute “must”, others never even mention. So, I knew starting out, I just had to wing it and figure out what worked for me. My hope is that even if you don’t think you NEED these items, they can help plant seeds of what you might want during your pregnancy and motherhood journey.

I’m going to take you through a list of my favorite items and explain to you WHY they worked so well for me. Being a mom of two sets of twins, I think this list is a great place to start if your new to twins or expecting your first singleton babe!

NUMBER 1: THE TWIN NURSING PILLOW

The one thing that scared me the most about having twins was how in the world I was going to nurse both of them! I was hoping to nurse them as long as possible; I wanted my babies to have the best nutrition I could give them. But how in the world was I going to nurse two babies at the same time!? This pillow was recommended to me by another twin mom, and at first, I just thought I would feed separately no big deal. But quickly realized, I had absolutely no time left in my day when I was feeding separately. Being able to sit down and nurse them both, especially through the night was a game changer for me. It allowed me to have so much more sleep and so much more time during the day. The pillow is super comfortable and holds the babies up close to me with the wraparound clip, allowing the babies to feel relaxed and secure. I’ve used this pillow with both sets of twins and will continue to if I have any more! Haha. (Disclaimer: I am going to post a link to all of my items; but I also recommend looking on FB Marketplace and thrift stores because some of these things can get a bit pricey. I will say they are worth every penny though!)

NUMBER TWO: THE BABY BOUNCER

Now I didn’t get the baby bouncer with my first set of twins because I was living in a tight space, and I didn’t want to clutter it with two baby bouncers. I just figured I could put the babies on the ground for tummy time or on a pillow. However, when I got it for the second set of twins it a game changer! For some reason, my babies like to be in a sitting position. So, the baby bouncer allows for the twins feel like they are part of the conversation while allowing me time to get more work done! I definitely regret not getting this for the first set of twins, and I will say, only having one bouncer worked out fine for me! I did not need two. One baby went in the bouncer while I held the other or put one on the ground or vice versa. I did not feel the need to buy two of these. There are also so many different brands, but they all essentially do the same thing, so you do not need a name brand baby bouncer! I got mine right off of Amazon, and you can find good deals from other local retailers as well. Let’s save some money here!

NUMBER THREE: THE LOVE TO DREAM BABY SWADDLE

As a new mom, I didn’t know how valuable sleepers were going to be until my babies had such a hard time sleeping. Babies like to be cuddled and snuggled and feel like they are in your arms when they are sleeping. The nurses always do such a good job at the hospital of wrapping the baby up really tight in their blanket, which helps them feel secure while they are sleeping. I have tried so many different sleepers and this is THE one. I absolutely love it. I kept the twins in this sleeper until they were about seven months old and still have my ten-month-old twins in sleepers! Seriously seriously highly recommend this brand. You can find these easily on Amazon (through the link below), Facebook marketplace, or at children’s thrift stores!

NUMBER FOUR: THE NOSE FRIDA

In full transparency, I had no idea what the nose Frida even was until I saw my sister-in-law using it on my niece and my first thought was, “N-e-v-e-r.” But, after I used it for the first time, I realized what the hype was all about. I cannot tell you how much I love this thing! When your baby is sick with snot everywhere, you’re worried about their breathing, or they keep waking up every 20 minutes because of congestion, this will be your best friend! I found that being able to completely clear out their congestion helps them get better so much quicker and sleep so much longer. My little blue rubber blub, was just not cutting it for me because it didn’t work quite as well. But once I had the courage to try The Nose Frida, I was immediately fan. Nose Frida all the way! And, how nice, its affordable!

NUMBER FIVE: THE LIGHTWEIGHT MUSLIN BLANKET FROM AMAZON

These blankets are probably some of my favorite ones. They double as a lightweight blanket, and a baby wrap in the earlier months! They’re nice and large and you can fold them over in all directions to wrap up the baby for sleep, while also using one as just a lightweight blanket. They roll up nice and tight to fit in your diaper bag and come in all the cutest colors! I’ve even used one to tie around my neck as a nursing cover when I needed.

NUMBER SIX: MY FAVORITE NURSING COVER

Speaking of nursing covers, this cheap, stylish, nursing cover on Amazon is my favorite! It doesn’t hug my body, and it hangs down really low making sure I’m not exposed at all in public. It’s really light and breathable but still provides good dark coverage for the baby to fall asleep while nursing. It’s super comfortable for me and the babies. I’ve had it for both sets of twins, and it’s held up really well! I also love the different colors It comes in. I might need a second if I get pregnant again one just to Spruce things up a bit! So Cute!

NUMBER SEVEN: COSTCO DIAPERS

Now, this may be a little bit controversial since not everybody has a Costco membership, but as a mom to four children in diapers, I will attest that Costco diapers are my absolute favorite! They lead in all other diapers as far as quality and quantity! I have tried almost every type of diaper, and the one diaper that my kids hardly ever pee out of during naps or throughout the night, are the ones from Costco. I can actually put the little twins in a new diaper before bed and not have to change them until the morning time; unless of course they poop through the night, then that’s an absolute diaper-change. But that would happen with any diaper! Costco even has some great sales sometimes, so I try to stock up so that I don’t run out! I do wonder if anyone has compared the Sams Club diaper to the Kirkland brand? That would be worth looking into too.

NUMBER EIGHT: BABY SOCKS

I would have never thought I would care so much about baby socks, but I do! I got so many socks for the twins when they were infants, and they could hardly keep them on. Even the socks that were given to them at the hospital didn’t stay on their feet and that worried me. I wanted to make sure that they were always warm and didn’t want to have to worry about checking their feet every 20 minutes. My sister sent me these socks for the second set of twins from amazon and they were incredible. They are the only socks I have found that stay on all the baby’s feet, all day! They are soft, cute, and super affordable. Favorite socks for SURE!

NUMBER NINE: BABY BIBS

Baby bibs are a must! Small cloth ones are important while the baby is young for drooling, especially so they don’t wet through their clothes and need to be changed after every hour or so. I’ve found that most cloth bibs typically all work the same regardless of brand. However, bibs are a huge necessity when the babies begin eating solid foods. My babies can get sooo messy! I saw my sister-in-law using these bibs and instantly loved them! They practically cover the whole baby/toddler and catch everything that doesn’t end up in their mouth. The material makes for a smooth and easy clean up post mealtime, and what mom doesn’t love that?

NUMBER TEN: PACK AND PLAY WITH THE BASSINET

All new moms try to find the perfect bassinet for their first baby that they can continue to use for their next littles one as well. I was looking for exactly that, but I also needed one with a few additional features for twins. I wanted a Pack and Play that doubled as a bassinet, but also one that could fit two babies. (I was planning on sleeping my twins together from the beginning). Putting a Pack and Play next to my bed didn’t sound very comfortable, but I was introduced to the baby bassinet sleeper crib by another twin mom, and I went for it. I am so glad I did! I’ve used this bassinet for both sets of twins until they were all about 7 months old. When they got too big, they needed separate pack and plays. So now, I use it as a regular bed. I purchased the babywomb world bassinet because that’s what was recommended to me, but there are so many out there I have found that are way more affordable. I am going to link one I found that looks very similar to the one I have, and I am also going to link a soft little mattress that makes the pack and Play bed more comfortable for the baby to sleep! Definitely worth it.

There we go! This is my list of the top ten baby items I definitely needed as a new mom of twins. I hope this is a helpful list to any new mom. I’ll definitely add items to my amazon “must haves” that I use and feel like I couldn’t live without! Feel free to leave comments if you use these items or if you have other “must haves” as a twin mom that you think would be helpful for other moms!
